I won this for a NIGHTLINE story – AMERICA IN BLACK & WHITE: A Day in the Life of a Black Cop.

What more can I say? It was exciting and looks great on the shelf and did it get me more work? Actually the following year, 2000, after the dot com crash, ABC News cut its free-lance budget — gone – zip – nothing.

I’m not saying that winning an Emmy is BAD luck — I’d like a few more if only because I think I look good in a dinner jacket (even though I was probably twenty pounds heavier).
